Alex Hildebrand

Senior Associate
Alex Hildebrand, MSM, is a Senior Associate with La Piana Consulting. Alex specializes in strategic restructuring, strategic planning, and board development. He has over 10 years of experience performing nonprofit management and consulting from a wide range of professional orientations.
Prior to joining La Piana, Alex was an Associate Consultant at BTW informing change, where he evaluated programs and facilitated strategic planning efforts for foundations and nonprofits.
Before his transition into consulting, Alex was Executive Director of the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Development Director for an adventure-based youth development program in Portland, Maine. Alex has substantial experience in the child care sector, and has written several reports and methodology guides on the economic impact of child care. He has also worked as a Public Policy Associate for statewide child advocacy organizations in both Oregon and Maryland, and ran a shelter for homeless youth in Portland, Oregon.
Alex holds an M.S. in Management from Antioch New England Graduate School and a B.A. in Political Science from Cornell University. Alex is currently the board chair of Peace Brigades International/USA. His past volunteer experience includes serving on the Maine Commission of Community Service, the Maine Governor’s Task Force on Early Childhood, and the Advisory Board for the Chrysalis Youth Action Fund at Maine Initiatives.
Alex lives in San Francisco with his wife, Carol, an educational consultant, and their new baby, Lila Sabine. Most at home in the spectacular Bay Area outdoors, Alex likes to be in the ocean on a surfboard or in a sea kayak, playing soccer, or making music.
