Program Assistant
Brenda has a diverse background in the nonprofit sector, having worked in program coordination, client services, and volunteer management. Before joining La Piana, Brenda worked at Inner-City Arts, an arts education nonprofit in donwtown Los Angeles. She also worked at PAWS Los Angeles, a nonprofit organization that assists seniors and the disabled with life threatening illnesses keep and take care of their pets.
As Program Assistant at Inner-City Arts, Brenda worked closely with educators and community stakeholders to recruit and develop new programming for low-income, inner-city high school students. She enjoyed helping create a bridge between the studio and the classroom for students who saw measureable improvements in their academic and personal outcomes.
Brenda received her Master of Arts in Spanish from Simmons College, where she focused on Latin American identity in literature. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles.
In her down time, Brenda mixes classical pursuits, like reading, with her love of the outdoors and crafting. She lives in Oakland with her husband and their two cats.
