Marketing and Communications Manager
Kathy Ferreira has a background in marketing, nonprofit administration, social policy and education research, fundraising, and event planning.
Prior to joining the La Piana team, Kathy worked as Membership Manager at the Oakland Museum of California, an interdisciplinary art, history, and science museum. She was also a Marketing Associate at GetActive Software (acquired by Convio, Inc.), a software-as-service company that provided email marketing, web publishing, advocacy, and online fundraising tools specifically designed to help nonprofits recruit, engage, and retain their constituents.
Kathy received a B.A. in Sociology from Mills College and her passion for the nonprofit sector began when she served as Administrative Director at the Oakland Heritage Alliance, a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to the preservation of Oakland’s cultural, historic, and environmental resources. Kathy also supported Dr. Thomas Brock's research at MDRC, a national nonprofit nonpartisan social policy think tank.
Kathy remains active in her local nonprofit community. Most recently, she completed a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Oakland Fox theater. Her work in supporting the restoration of one Oakland’s most historic movie palaces culminated in the Grand Reopening of the theater in 2009.
