Leading the Sector with Landmark Research

La Piana Consulting, through its foundation-sponsored Strategic Solutions project, was the nation's first resource on all aspects of nonprofit strategic restructuring. Strategic Solutions was a 5-year foundation-funded initiative (1998-2003) dedicated to achieving a major and lasting positive impact on the nonprofit sector's perception, understanding, and use of strategic restructuring - thereby increasing the capacity of organizations to advance their missions.

Tools You Can Use

Over the grant period, the Strategic Solutions project aimed to increase the awareness of the nonprofit sector of the potential value of strategic restructuring activities, such as mergers, joint ventures, and administrative consolidations. To meet this goal, we developed workbooks, articles, and other tools to support successful restructuring efforts. Anyone interested in learning more about the topic can find the references and resources they need – including one of our best selling works, The Nonprofit Mergers Workbook, originally published in 2000 and recently updated in 2008 by Bob Harrington, Partner. Be sure to check out our full list of publications here.
