I spend a great deal of time working on behalf of environmental clients, both funders and nonprofits.

Yet it is easy, in the rush of business, to forget what it is they are working to protect.

Yesterday I hiked solo to the top of a ridge that looks down over Donner Lake, a beautiful expense of blue water in a glacier-carved deep, wooded valley.

Wow! I need to do this more often.

A few days ago I wrote about “Nonprofit Building” located in Incline, Nevada on Lake Tahoe, right at the departure point for a shuttle to the Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. I was curious to learn what the building holds.

Well, when I arrived I was quite surprised.

First, if anyone has been to Incline, or anywhere on Lake Tahoe, you know the kind of architecture that is popular up there, especially with all the developments going in. Depending on your viewpoint, you might call it “mountain chic” or “mountain tacky.”

Well, this building was both new and beautiful—outside and inside: a great example of the true Tahoe Style.

I nosed around inside while my wife waited (patiently) in line for the shuttle. The building contains separate offices for a handful of nonprofits and shared meeting space.

Incline should be proud!
