Thought Leaders in the Sector In addition to our core consulting services, La Piana Consulting provides specialized research services, and undertakes unique partnerships with funders to develop and disseminate new knowledge and tools for the nonprofit sector. Foundations are uniquely positioned to identify sector-wide needs for development of new ideas, and to provide resources and support to the sector in meeting these needs. While foundations themselves may not be directly involved in the development and implementation of the methodology to meet these needs, they are essential to providing the impetus and support to these field-building efforts. La Piana Consulting has in-depth experience in identifying field-wide issues and needs, and in working with foundations in field-building research efforts. NonprofitNext In 2008, La Piana Consulting embarked on a research initiative, funded by Fieldstone Alliance and the James Irvine Foundation, to better understand what key trends will have the greatest impact on the nonprofit sector's structure, activities, leadership, and impact over the next five years. The research culminated in the report, funded by the James Irvine Foundation, titled Convergence: How Five Trends Will Reshape the Social Sector. Strategy Formation Strategy Formation, a four-year research and development initiative, was undertaken by La Piana Consulting in 2003, to address the need for effective methods of forming strategies in the nonprofit sector. It evolved out of a growing recognition of the shortcomings of traditional strategic planning processes to meet the needs of nonprofits and help them advance their missions. Strategic Solutions La Piana Consulting was founded as a national consulting firm based on the foundation of its Strategic Restructuring Practice. This Strategic Restructuring knowledge was born from The Strategic Solutions project, a five-year field-building project funded by the James Irvine Foundation, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. |
