Meet Doug,

one of our Senior Managers.

Doug Green (he/him) brings more than three decades of financial and management consulting experience to his work with nonprofits. A seasoned financial analyst and strategist, he specializes in guiding organizations through complex financial reviews, due diligence, and restructuring decisions. Doug has helped numerous organizations evaluate fiscal health, identify risks, and build sound financial models to inform merger negotiations and long-term sustainability planning.

Doug’s career has consistently intersected with moments of significant financial change. During the 1980s Savings & Loan crisis, he supported the first modern interstate banking mergers through detailed financial analysis. Since joining La Piana in 2016, he has conducted financial due diligence for dozens of nonprofit mergers and partnerships across sectors, providing boards and executives with clear, actionable insights into their financial positions and future outlooks.

In addition to his due diligence expertise, Doug has broad experience in nonprofit financial management, budgeting, and forecasting. He has advised organizations ranging from community-based nonprofits to large national networks, including Goodwill Industries International, Energy Foundation, Coaching Corps, and the San Diego Natural History Museum. His ability to combine technical financial analysis with strategic insight has made him a trusted partner to nonprofit leaders navigating change.

Beyond his consulting work, Doug has taught nonprofit finance and management as a professor at Pepperdine University and California Lutheran University and served as Resource Center Director for Ventura County Community Foundation.
